Originally built in 1930 by Charles Delmonico of the famed New York Steakhouse this 5 bedroom 5.5 bath was purchased to revamp and resell. While in the process of having the home designated historical designer Suzanne Melvin desired to add in some modern elements yet preserve the charm and integrity of the space. The homes 1930's floorplan included a spacious kitchen for that period as well as an extended butlers pantry so the basic layout remained intact. Suzanne did opt to remove the laundry room which was located on the back kitchen wall and replace that space with 3 sets of french doors that were upcycled from another area of the home; this small adjustment flooded the kitchen with natural light and direct access to the courtyard. A custom steel hood is a stunning focal point that mixes the vintage nature of the home with modern flair without being too stuffy or formal. Calacatta Gold marble counters are featured in honed and accented with a polished herringbone pattern backsplash providing a timeless nod to the era and perfect compliment to the original hardwood flooring.
